Mountaineer Classic Wrestling Tournament
From Madison Athletics: “
The Wrestling team hosted the 10 team Mountaineer Classic today. The Mountaineers went 3-2 on the day. Madison beat Charlottesville (48-24), Central (42-24) and Woodberry Forrest (54-24) and lost to James River (54-30) and Orange (45-30).
Christian Corbin (220) and Jacob Sacra (Hwy) both went 5-0 on the day. Jack Bourdon (145), David Barringer (160), Corey Helmick (170) all went 4-1 on the day.
The Wrestlers are off for the Christmas break and will return to the mat on Wednesday Jan 8th when they host a quad match vs Rappahannock, Courtland and Massanutten at 6:00pm.”
Also of note, with that first team win of the day, Coach Mike Sacra got his 450th win as a coach. Congratulations to Mike!

MCHS Girls Basketball vs Page
From Madison Athletics: “The Girls Varsity Basketball team beat Page County tonight 47-44. Kate McLearen led the Mountaineers with 13 points and Sophie Adams added 11. Madison has now won 3 in a row and are 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the Bull Run District. MCHS Girls Basketball vs William Monroe
From Madison Athletics: “The Girls Varsity Basketball team lost to Wm Monroe tonight 52-28. Madison was able to cut Monroe’s lead to 4 in both halves but just couldn’t find any consistency on offense. Lindsay McDaniel led the Mountaineers with 9 points. Madison will travel to Rappahannock on Tuesday for their Bull Run District opener.”
