Mountaineer Classic Wrestling Tournament
From Madison Athletics: “
The Wrestling team hosted the 10 team Mountaineer Classic today. The Mountaineers went 3-2 on the day. Madison beat Charlottesville (48-24), Central (42-24) and Woodberry Forrest (54-24) and lost to James River (54-30) and Orange (45-30).
Christian Corbin (220) and Jacob Sacra (Hwy) both went 5-0 on the day. Jack Bourdon (145), David Barringer (160), Corey Helmick (170) all went 4-1 on the day.
The Wrestlers are off for the Christmas break and will return to the mat on Wednesday Jan 8th when they host a quad match vs Rappahannock, Courtland and Massanutten at 6:00pm.”
Also of note, with that first team win of the day, Coach Mike Sacra got his 450th win as a coach. Congratulations to Mike!

MCHS Girls Basketball vs Page
From Madison Athletics: “The Girls Varsity Basketball team beat Page County tonight 47-44. Kate McLearen led the Mountaineers with 13 points and Sophie Adams added 11. Madison has now won 3 in a row and are 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the Bull Run District. MCHS Boys Basketball vs Rappahannock
Well, I left when the game was initially called because of the power outage. As soon as I got home I saw the tweet saying the power was back on and they’d finish the game. So, not many photos from varsity. Click the appropriate photo to see the gallery from that game.

MCHS Girls Basketball vs William Monroe
From Madison Athletics: “The Girls Varsity Basketball team lost to Wm Monroe tonight 52-28. Madison was able to cut Monroe’s lead to 4 in both halves but just couldn’t find any consistency on offense. Lindsay McDaniel led the Mountaineers with 9 points. Madison will travel to Rappahannock on Tuesday for their Bull Run District opener.”
