Madison’s varsity football team defeated Page tonight 26-12. Madison’s Maurice Gentry scored on a run from 4 yards out in the first quarter to put Madison up 7-0. Quarterback James Graves would add to the score in the second quarter, scoring from the 1 yard line giving Madison a 13-0 lead at half. Ashton Weakley scored twice for the Mountaineers in the second half, first on a TD pass from Graves, and then again on an 85 yard kickoff return. Page scored twice in the second half, giving a final score of Madison 26, Page 12.
Lots of turnovers last night, mostly fumbles, fortunately, Madison did most of the recovering.
Photo below was from a play prior to the Graves to Weakley TD pass….but I like it that both James and Ashton are in the frame.

J.P. Utz blocked Page’s point after attempt on their first TD of the night..

With quite a bit of help from the student section, Madison varsity volleyball defeated Rappahannock tonight 3-1. Madison lost the first set to Rapp but had a pretty nice run of points near the end of the set to make it close, eventually losing 22-25. The second set was all Madison 25-15. And after that, anytime the Lady Mountaineers started to lose momentum, the student section kicked in to bring it back. There was definitely a “home field advantage” tonight. Madison’s JV volleyball team lost to Rappahannock tonight 2-0 (22-25 and 18-25). You don’t often get a chance to shoot into the sun inside Wetsel gym. I happened to be sitting at just the right spot during the JV match for a little solar flare….. (click the picture below to go to the jv gallery)

I’ll be shooting some of the local teams around here this year for their yearbooks, so you’ll see some non-Madison posts from time to time. Yesterday was Eastern View High School Cross Country. They ran over at Culpeper High. Boys and girls ran together, makes for a short event. Click any of the photos to see the gallery.
It’s always necessary to take the glasses reflection photo when it’s available…..

I set up a remote camera behind some weeds in the field next to the course. I didn’t have it aimed quite right for the girl’s race, did a little better for the boy’s race. Although, I was shooting somewhat into the sun, so I think I can do something better next time. I got a few shots that I liked, a few are below.

Golf isn’t a particularly difficult sport to shoot, and there are limited places to stand so that you don’t get in the way….or get hit by a golf ball…so sometimes it can be difficult to get unique photos. I feel liking I’m shooting the same stuff over and over. So, I was just looking for something different today. I couldn’t stay too long, so I was hoping for a few unique shots. The two below (more in the gallery) came from laying in the grass below the second tee, and shooting up into the reasonably bright sky. Manual exposure set to properly expose their faces, and just let the sky blow out….not detail in it whatsoever. So, I guess they are different…….
