Madison’s varsity girls were in the game with Clarke the whole way, trading leads with the Eagles, but couldn’t quite pull it out in the end. Madison lost to Clarke 48-42.
Madison’s JV girl’s picked up a big win last night defeating previously unbeaten Clarke County 39-33. Madison only had one district loss this year, and that was to Clarke. So the win leaves Madison and Clarke tied for first in the Bull Run District.

In the first year of swimming at MCHS, eight swimmers qualified for the Region B Championships held at Manassas Park: Kara McHaney, Drew Kelliher, Christine Mullen, Johnny Mullen, Danielle Scott, Suzi Windland, Ryan Powers, and Kara Omer. Kara McHaney and Drew Kelliher both qualified for next week’s Virginia, Group A State meet next week.
Kara McHaney placed first in the girl’s 200 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly. She already had a state qualifying time in the 500 yard freestyle.
Drew Kelliher placed first in the boy’s 200 yard freestyle and second in the boy’s 100 yard butterfly.
Johnny Mullen started off the meet by singing the National Anthem!
The 50 free, below, is one of the harder races to shoot. LOTS of splashing going on, and the camera LOVES to focus on splashes!
Things that make you say “hmmmm….”
