I wasn’t there long, I was jacketless, and wet and cold from shooting golf in the rain. Wasn’t going so well for Madison, 20-0 Page when I got there late in the first quarter, 34-0 Page when I left at half time.
Cole Smith made a nice kickoff return, but that was about the only highlight while I was there.

Six seniors this year…had to play their last home match before Districts in the rain…
In no particular order…just the order I happen to get photos that I liked…
Collin Tucker
Jake Sadler
Josh Honaker
Ryan Taylor
Haley McLean
Kevin Wells
And a favorite from the day, Haley teeing off on eight. Debated shooting from the front, but saw the mountains and clouds as a background, so I ran around behind her. Glad I did 🙂
As yes, the sun started to come out as they were finishing up.

From MCHSAthletics.org:
“The girl’s cross country team traveled to Greene County on Wednesday, September 14th for a tri-meet with William Monroe and Orange County and came away with a first place finish.
The Lady Mountaineers were led by Katie Berry who finished first overall with a time of 22:01 and Caitlin Shilan who finished second overall with a personal best of 22:23. Rachel Sharp (27:01), Lauren Birkett (28:44/PR), Brooke Crouthamel (29:24/PR), Ellen Berry (29:29/PR), and Brooke Paramore (29:49) rounded out the top seven. It was the push from our sixth and seventh runners, Ellen B. and Brooke P., that helped the ladies claim the first place finish. Great job.”
Yep, finished first and second....with no one else even close.
And the sportsmanship award goes to this girl from William Monroe. The Orange girl in front took a wrong turn coming out of the woods just before the finish. The girl from William Monroe took fourth place when she could have easily had third due to the Orange runner's mistake, but she just fell right in behind the Orange runner and settled for fourth. NICE!
If looks could kill.....
Again, from MCHSAthletics.org:
“The boy’s cross country team travled to Greene County for a tri-meet with William Monroe and Orange County. The boys finished 2nd.
The Mountaineers were led by an impressive pack of runners consisting of Daniel Comyn (20:13), Brandon Strayer (20:13/PR), and Drew Kelliher (20:15/PR). Marcus Divers (21:04), Ben Schrepfer (21:16/PR), Mikey Piercy (21:17), and Daniel Richards (21:43) rounded out the top seven. “
