….lost Rashad Bolden very early in the game to a shoulder injury, after he’d made two nice receptions that set up Maurice Gentry’s TD that put the Mountaineers up 7-0. Two long Farmer to Warren passes set up two Ralph Yates scores, but that was all the scoring for Madison. Three interceptions and a fumble or two gave the Eagles the 28-20 victory. Leaves the Bull Run District with a three-way tie for first place between Madison, Clarke, and Manassas Park. From what I can gather, it looks like Madison gets to make that wonderful journey to Altavista next week……ugh….
Ralph continued to tear up the field, dragging Eagles down the field until they could finally bring him down…
And Travis was no slouch either, making a nice long kickoff return below….
….and Maurice too….
There was a rather large Madison crowd there (the visiting stand were full, and about half again that many standing around the fence), a photographer I know from up that way said that was the most people he’d seen at a football game this year….
If you stayed home tonight because it was cold….you missed a heck of a game! I don’t think there was a dull moment for any of the 48 minutes! If it wasn’t Travis and Rashad making spectacular catches off Dustin’s passes, or Ralph running up and down the field, or Shephen drilling that field goal that gave Madison a 2 score lead late in the game, it was the Madison defense holding MP for four plays inside the 5 yard line…..then Bradley coming up with a HUGE fumble recover that pretty much put the game away….and, well, there were the celebrations….we sports photographers just love celebrations…so that’s what you’re getting below. If you want to see action, click on any of the pictures to see the whole gallery. Be sure to check out Scrimmageplay.com for game coverage.
Madison started off well winning the first set 25-16….after that, it didn’t go so well…
There were some good moments….
….but, unfortunately for Madison, there were more moments like this….
Rappahannock won the match 3-1 and advances to the Bull Run District Tournament Finals on Saturday night and will play the winner of Strasburg and Clarke. All four teams (Rapp, Madison, Clarke, and Strasburg advance to play in the Region B Tournament starting next week….rumor has it that we play at Nelson….but check out www.mchsathletics.com to know for sure)
I stayed for the first set of the Strasburg/Clarke semifinal, Strasburg won the first one 25-21, click the picture below for some photos from that match…
