Maybe you don’t care…but they are in our District….not sure if that’s good or bad….but if you’re in the Bull Run District, and you can tie the eventual State Champion twice in one season…we’ll just forget that PK ending ;-)…..that’s a pretty good accomplishment!!!

GEORGE MASON TAKES DOWN BOBCATS 3-1, CAPTURES THIRD STRAIGHT A GIRLS SOCCER TITLE
RADFORD, Va. – Led by Hannah Walker’s two goals, George Mason defeated Radford 3-1 in the A Girls Soccer State Championship at Radford University as part of the 2010 Spring Jubilee.
Leah Roth added the other Mustang tally in the 50th minute when she took the ball up the field and scored unassisted.
Radford’s lone goal came prior to the half when Maddy Denny rebounded her own penalty kick and found the right side of the net.
With the win, George Mason wins its third straight state title and fifth overall.

Madison ended their “historic” (first time in State Tournament, first State Tournament Quarterfinal win) season today losing to Radford 5-2. The VHSL Press Release is below the pictures, that’ll give you an idea of the scoring.
It’s always tough this time of year…when the seniors that I’ve been shooting for so many years move on.

DENNY’S HAT TRICK LEADS RADFORD PAST MADISON COUNTY IN GROUP A GIRLS SOCCER SEMIFINALS
RADFORD, Va. – Freshman Lexi Denny scored a pair of first-half goals and added one more in the final period to lead Radford to a 5-2 victory over Madison County in the Group A Girls Soccer State semifinals Friday at Radford University as part of the 2010 Spring Jubilee.
Denny scored the first goal of the contest in the 4th minute and added the eventual difference maker just over 14 minutes later. Her final strike came just over six minutes into the second period.
Cece Scott (15th minute) and Lindsi Sparks (50th minute) also contributed goals for the Bobcats.
Madison’s Lindsay Wheeler tied the match 1-1 when she found the back of the net in the 9th minute, but that’s as close as the Mountaineers would get.
Senior Ivy Jacobs provided the final goal of the contest for Madison in the final minute.
Radford, which will be making its fifth title match appearance in nine years, takes on George Mason Saturday at 10 a.m.

WALKER AND ROTH LEAD GEORGE MASON TO 5-1 WIN IN GROUP A GIRLS SOCCER SEMIFINALS
RADFORD, Va. – Hannah Walker and Leah Roth scored two goals each to lead George Mason past Gate City, 5-1, in the Group A Girls Soccer State semifinals Friday morning at Radford University as part of the 2010 Spring Jubilee.
Violet Miller also added a goal and set up another for the Mustangs.
The Blue Devils lone goal came from Anna McClung in the 64th minute.
George Mason outshot Gate City 16-4 and held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
The Mustangs await the winner of Friday’s second semifinal match between Radford and Madison County.
